One screen for a whole school campus

An integrated building management system (BMS) that watches power, generators, solar, water, lifts, fire alarm and security across two teaching blocks, live.

  • 94monitoring points, all tested
  • 16energy meters on the main board
  • 2 × 125 kVAgenerators monitored live

Finished and labelled building management control panel at Green Hills Academy

The challenge

Green Hills Academy is a large school campus in Kigali with two four-floor teaching blocks, its own power house, a solar plant, server rooms and lifts. With hundreds of students on site every day, the facilities team needed to know straight away if anything went wrong, without walking around the campus checking each system.

What we did

We brought every critical system onto one Integrated Building Management System. Field controllers talk to meters, generators and equipment over Modbus and BACnet. Where older equipment had no data connection, we wired in status signals directly. We built custom screens for each part of the campus, set up alarms, and tested every one of the 94 points from the field device to the screen.

Energy data from the Schneider Electric meters now feeds live dashboards. These show total consumption, daily comparisons, load breakdown and carbon emissions.

The result

The school's team now sees the whole campus on one screen. Faults raise an alarm the moment they happen, energy use is measured rather than guessed, and every reading is logged for maintenance planning. The system was commissioned and handed over in September 2026.
